  越来越多的五金企业认识到单靠价格竞争不能建立核心竞争力,不是长远发展的方向,从而努力探索新的发展道路。许多五金企业加大了技术投入,开发新的具有高技术含量的产品,将产品的差异化作为企业发展的长久之计,寻求新的市场需求,建立新的经济增长点,以实现企业的可持续发展。
  五金行业与普通的消费品在营销形态上已经发生了很大的变化,一般情况下,五金行业营销属于典型的大宗贸易,其销售特征、渠道结构和普通消费品的区别也很大。编者曾经接触过不少五金行业产品营销,像基础性化工氯碱产品,机床产品,乳制品设备,轮胎产品等等,对于五金行业新产品上市作过一定的跟踪性研究,五金行业营销具其自身的特点。
  因为五金产品结构技术含量相对较高,而国内的大部分经销商起家靠市场机会的,相对综合素质偏低,完全依赖渠道是不可能,大部分渠道中的分销商充当大销售人员,与终端用户搞商务为主,涉及专业的方案与技术交流,基本是以厂家为主;而厂家要想生产比较稳定,就必须重视直销。
